WhatsApp’s wrong number scam started during the corona epidemic. Today, I am going to share some of the screenshots from my WhatsApp account and the chat messages. Thankfully due to my experience and work background, I knew what kind of information I should be sharing with an unknown person and did not become a victim of this kind of scam.
(1) 1st WhatsApp Scam Message
The very first message I received was on 5/10/2020 number starts from +44
Now, I am into the IT business, and for me, it is normal that I receive messages from unknown numbers for business. I will be very honest with you for the very first time I really thought it was a genuine wrong number and not a scam I thought maybe they made a mistake when they typed the number.
So, I introduce myself and offer a service if they needed any help regarding website development, search engine optimization, or social media marketing. Later when I saw this person (Rita) Its been a year so I guess this account/phone number might have expired so we are not able to see the photo but it was a photo of the girl who could become a very successful model.
Anyway, But when she said she runs a gym in Singapore I knew something was fishy because the number she sent messages from starts from +44 and it is the country code of the UK, and the country code for Singapore starts from +65. Since this information did not match I was a bit skeptical and stopped responding right there.
(2) 2nd WhatsApp Scam Message
2nd message I received was a month later which was similar to the first case they entered the wrong number. Even this second time I was not sure that there is a group of people who are doing a scam like this. However, After just replying simple message I ignored this number.
Again this number starts from +44 displays profile image of a girl with good looks.
(3) 3rd WhatsApp Scam Message
The third message I received was on 28th Aug 2021 from another country (Malaysia) code +60 Again the same situation entered the wrong number
After getting such wrong numbers again and again I knew there is a group of people who are using honey traps for scams.
4) 4th WhatsApp Scam Message
4th WhatsApp message I received was on 03/09/2021 starts from +44 After getting similar messages again and again I knew this is just a scam.
Today, I again received such a message on WhatsApp and thought I have to bring such a scam to light.
As you can see in screenshots, Mostly number starts from +44 but sometimes it varies. In short, If you receive such a message on WhatsApp then make sure you do not share your private details, Like Date of birth, Address, location, OTP, etc
I am pretty sure I am not alone who got this kind of message, if you have received such messages then please share them with us via the Comment section.
The same thing is going with me and its twice so i thought of googleing it and found ur blog thanks for help
Ask them if they know Emily. I had one of them ask me if I know Emily and then the second on that came along I asked them If they were friends with Emily and they said “Yes, do you know emily.”
I am live with one now. Seeing how far it goes. She is from Singapore looking to set up a business in London. She lives in Westminster.
After a while I blocked the contact
